
2 Children Hurt in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash in Steele County
Ellendale, MN (KROC-AM News) - Alcohol involvement is suspected in a T-bone crash that injured two children and two adults in Steele County Saturday evening.
State Patrol Investigating Rural T-Bone Crash
The State Patrol says the crash occurred around 7:25 p.m. at an intersection on Highway 30, about five miles west of Ellendale and 15 miles north of Albert Lea. The crash report indicates that the two adults and two children injured in the incident were in a car traveling west on Highway 30 when it collided with a small SUV that was traveling south on an intersecting rural road.

Alcohol Use Suspected
The State Patrol report indicates alcohol use is suspected by the driver of the SUV. He was identified as 26-year-old Brett Kubiatowicz of Geneva and was not injured in the collision.
Four Family Members Injured
The State Patrol identified the driver of the car as 31-year-old Zakeria Newman of New Richland. He had three passengers: 31-year-old Morgan Newman and two children, a 4-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl.

All four occupants of the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. The two adults and the 6-year-old girl were transported by ambulance to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Owatonna, while the 4-year-old boy was treated at the scene.
Crash Remains Under Investigation
The State Patrol report indicates seat belts were being used by everyone involved in the crash.
