Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - Conditional bail was set at $2 million today for the man accused of shooting and killing his pregnant girlfriend in the parking lot at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Lakeville on Sunday.

32-year-old Donte McCray of St. Louis Park was formally charged this afternoon with second-degree murder for the death of 31-year-old Kyla Fletcher, who was also from St. Louis Park. She was found suffering from a single gunshot wound to her deck and was rushed to the Hennepin County Medical Center where she died.

The criminal complaint filed in Dakota County Court states that doctors performed a C-section in an effort to save her baby. The newborn is hospitalized in critical condition and Dakota County prosecutors say McCray will face additional charges if the infant does not survive.

Court documents allege the fatal shooting occurred only hours after the couple broke up over accusations of infidelity. The investigation determined McCray left the home he had shared with the victim and went to his mother's home on Sunday, but for some reason, the victim then gave him a ride to the Amazon facility where he worked.

McCray initially claimed the fatal shooting was an accident and occurred after he discovered he had guns in his bag and he wanted to "clear" of firearms of any live rounds of ammunition. The criminal complaint states that, after he was confronted with a video recording from a surveillance camera that did not reflect his version of the events, McCray admitted to investigators that he pointed one of his guns at Fletcher and pulled the trigger after he became angry when she backed her car up in the parking lot and an open car door struck him.

McCray is scheduled to make his next court appearance on January 19.
