Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Attorney's Office has filed charges against a Cresco, Iowa man accused of exposing himself and performing lewd acts on multiple occasions at the city swimming pool in Stewartville.

The criminal complaint charges 57-year-old Scott David Quam with gross misdemeanor counts of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and indecent exposure in the presence of a minor under 16. The court document alleges that Quam was seen on multiple days exposing himself and/or performing lewd acts in the Stewartville swimming pool in September and August of this year.

According to the criminal complaint, an Olmsted County deputy was dispatched to the pool on the afternoon of September 3rd and spoke to a young male witness who had seen a man engaging in lewd acts in the pool a few weeks earlier. He indicated that he had informed his mother and they reported the incident to the pool staff.

The mother also told the deputy that she had instructed her son to call her if he ever saw the man in the pool again, and on that day her son called and stated that the man had returned to the pool and was again performing lewd acts on himself. The court document says the woman then came to the pool and confronted Quam after also observing him fondling himself under his swimsuit.

The deputy reported that the woman directed the man to go to the pool office where she and a staff member demanded that he leave his name and phone number. The woman stated that the man did not deny the allegations but did apologize before leaving.

The court record says the woman's son reported that he had seen Quam performing lewd acts a few weeks earlier and later witnessed him exposing and fondling himself. The pool staff member also told the deputy that other children had reported seeing the man engaged in lewd acts a few weeks earlier and the mother of another child had also reported his behavior.

The criminal complaint says an investigator later met with Quam in Cresco and he denied performing any lewd acts in the pool. It says he did acknowledge going to the Stewartville pool on September 3rd and explained that he was wearing old swim trunks and he inadvertently exposed himself when they fell down.

Quam is due in court to be arraigned on the charges next month.
