69-Year-Old Man Suffers Serious Injuries After Crashing ATV in Pine Island

Pine Island, MN (KROC-AM News)- An ATV rider was taken to a hospital following a crash in Pine Island Wednesday morning.

The Pine Island Fire Department says crews responded to the report of an ATV crash in the ditch around 8 a.m. 

Traffic was impacted for about 30 minutes during the emergency response.

ATV Crashes at Intersection in Pine Island, Driver Transported to St. Mary's Hospital

The ATV crash occurred at the intersection of County Rd. 3 NW and 8th St. SW. 

The ATV operator, described by the Pine Island Fire Department as a 69-year-old man, was conscious and breathing when emergency responders arrived. 

Mayo One was called to the scene but the helicopter was canceled enroute by an ambulance crew that responded to the area.

The ATV rider was transported to the Emergency Room at St. Mary’s Hospital. His injuries were described as serious by the Pine Island Fire Department. 

His name has not been released. 

Crash Under Investigation

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash scene.
