Mayo Clinic Rochester Patient Parking Ramp is Now Closed

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Mayo Clinic has now closed of one of its patient parking ramps.

The ramp is being demolished to clear the way for construction of the Bernard E. and Edith B. Waterman Building, which is one of two new clinical buildings the healthcare giant's plans to construct as part of its $5 billion expansion in downtown Rochester. 

Its the third structure in downtown Rochester to be marked for demolition this year. Crews started taking down the Ozmun Building complex and former Lourdes High School last Winter.

Mayo Clinic Damon Parking Ramp in Downtown Rochester is now Closed

In May, Mayo Clinic officials announced the Damon Parking Ramp, located across the street from the western side of the Gonda Building at 15 3rd Ave. Southwest, would close in late July but did not announce a specific date. 

According to Mayo Clinic’s construction website, the Damon Ramp closed for demolition on Saturday. 

In an effort to alleviate the large loss of patient parking spaces, Mayo is planning to convert the West Employee Parking Ramp, also known as Ramp 9, to a mixed ramp open to both patients and employees. 

Floors 1-5 at the ramp, which is located at 515 West Center St., will be for patients. Levels 6 and above will be dedicated to Mayo Clinic staff. 

Mayo is now directing patients with appointments at the Mayo and Gonda Buildings to park at the West Ramp. 

Patients with appointments at Methodist Hospital will be sent to park at the Graham Parking Ramp, located at 121 3rd Avenue NW.
