
Flames Consume Large Barn at Farm Near St. Charles
St. Charles, MN (KROC-AM News) - A barn at a farm near St. Charles is a total loss due to a fire this morning.
The St. Charles Fire Department says firefighters responded to a property in the 23000 block of Winona County Road 37 about 5 miles northeast of St. Charles at around 8:40 AM. A St. Charles Police Officer was the first to arrive at the scene and reported that heavy flames and white smoke was coming from a barn. The officer also reported that all of the livestock had been safely evacuated from the structure.
According to a news release, St. Charles firefighters, with assistance from the Lewiston and Altura Fire Departments, were able to contain the fire to the barn and protect some nearby buildings. A total of 28 firefighters were involved in the effort.
No injuries were reported.
