Goodhue County is one of six Minnesota counties recently designated as a disaster area by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsak. The county was declared a disaster area after experiencing prolonged drought conditions for an extended period of time during the 2022 growing season.

Farmers impacted by the drought that meet the requirements could receive assistance from the Farm Service Agency. One of the assistance tools are emergency loans.

Goodhue County farmers have eight months to apply for assistance. Other counties also added to the natural disaster list are Blue Earth, Chisago, Meeker, Sherburne and Watonwan.
