Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The region's first measurable snowfall of the season is expected to occur this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service is currently predicting a likelihood of less than a half inch of accumulation in Rochester this afternoon, with a good chance of additional measurable snow Saturday evening and overnight. Forecasters say that should be enough to result in minor accumulations on grassy surfaces.

Areas west and southwest of Rochester have an even better chance of seeing accumulating snow today and tonight. The National Weather Service says Mower and Freeborn County could end up with more than an inch of snow while the responsible weather system moves through southeastern Minnesota.

Forecasters say another round of light snow is possible next Tuesday.
