
Police Officers Cut, Suspect Suffers Self-Inflicted Stab Wound in Minneapolis Domestic Abuse Arrest
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- A domestic abuse arrest in Minneapolis sent two police officers and an armed suspect to the hospital.

A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says officers responded to the incident shortly before 12:45 Tuesday morning.
A man, woman and their two children were involved. The abuse call came from an apartment building in the 900 block of 21st Ave. South.
Two Minneapolis Police Officers Cut by Knife Arrest Domestic Abuse Suspect Who Suffered Self-Inflicted Stab Wound
Responding officers found the man and woman struggling over a child in the hallway outside of their unit.
Police intervened and the male suspect retreated into the apartment, where he barricaded himself in the kitchen near a set of steak knives. He was also using a pitbull to shield himself from the officers, the news release says.

Police spent 30 minutes attempting to deescalate the situation and requested a crisis negotiator at the scene, authorities say.
Around 1:15 a.m., the officers neutralized the dog and moved in to arrest the suspect. He reacted by arming himself with two knives, police say.
A struggle ensued as the officers tried to disarm and arrest the suspect. One of the officers suffered a cut to the head and the other officer was cut on his hand, the news release says.
The suspect, who officers hit with a taser, suffered a self-inflicted stab wound and injuries to his hand, police say. The officers and suspect were taken to a hospital.

Both officers were treated and released and the suspect remains at the hospital in custody, the news release says.
The suspect’s name has not been released. The woman and two children were not hurt. Minneapolis police are investigating.
