Sparta, WI (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin are reporting the capture of a man suspected of robbing a Minnesota bank.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies made the arrest on Tuesday. He was wanted in connection with a bank robbery in the Twin Cities that same day. 

Authorities identified the suspect as 51-year-old Cory M. Billstrom of Janesville, WI.

Man Suspected of Robbing Bloomington, MN Bank Captured in Southwestern Wisconsin's Monroe County

A news release issued by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Bloomington Police informed them the suspect may be in the Village of Wilton, which is about 47 miles east of La Crosse.

Law enforcement responded to the area and apprehended Billstrom outside of a residence without incident after a short investigation, the news release says. 

Billstrom also had an active arrest warrant in Wisconsin. He was apprehended on the warrant and on suspicion of charges tied to the robbery at the undisclosed Bloomington bank. 

The news release says Billstrom is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail in Sparta, WI.

He is awaiting extradition to Minnesota, where he is expected to face formal charges connected to the bank robbery.
