Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A member of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is entering this year’s race for Sheriff.

On Monday, Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson announced that he will not seek reelection.
Torgerson, who is currently serving his 3rd term as Olmsted County Sheriff, said he made the decision not to run after considerable conversation and careful reflection.

Olmsted County Sheriff's Office Captain Tim Parkin Announces Candidacy for Sheriff
On Tuesday night, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin announced his candidacy for sheriff. He issued a brief statement to kick off his campaign.
“I would like to thank Sheriff Kevin Torgerson for his years of dedicated service and leadership with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO). My name is Tim Parkin, I am a Captain with OCSO, and I am announcing my intention to file and campaign for the position of Olmsted County Sheriff. I look forward to sharing more information about my candidacy in the near future.”
Parkin currently serves as Captain in the office’s Investigations department. He is also the sheriff’s office’s Media Liaison.
The official window for candidates to file for county election races in Minnesota opens May 19.
