St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in St. Paul say a man is in custody in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.

The St. Paul Police Department says officers responded to a shots fired call reported shortly after midnight in the area Payne Avenue and Arlington Avenue East. Responding officers found one person suffering from gunshot wounds in a nearby alley. 

Police say paramedics administered aid to the victim, described as an adult male, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Moments later, authorities received a 911 call from a person claiming to have been involved in the deadly shooting.

Police say a person was arrested after the second emergency call was placed. The victim’s name and suspected shooter’s identity have not been released.

The St. Paul Police Department’s homicide unit is working to determine what led to the shooting. The Victim has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, which will identify the victim and determine his cause of death.
