Byron, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Byron resident suffered severe injuries in a multi-vehicle crash this morning that caused traffic to be detoured off Highway 14.

The State Patrol says 35-year-old Terri Sheliaufkin was driving a minivan that was among the three vehicles struck by a semi-truck on eastbound Highway 14 just before 11 AM. The three vehicles had stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection with 10th Avenue Northeast in Byron when the semi-truck smashed into them from behind.

Sheliaufkin was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with what the State Patrol described as life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of an SUV, a 68-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman from Fond du Lac Wisconsin, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver, identified as 51-year-old Mitilien Joseph of Miami Florida, was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, while the 53-year-old Mankato man driving the fourth vehicle was not injured.
