Police Seize Cocaine, Fentanyl in Rochester Drug Bust
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is facing multiple felony charges stemming from a drug bust conducted earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court, Rochester Police detectives executed a search warrant on the afternoon of March 12 at a residence in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue Northeast. They were seeking to apprehend 33-year-old James Daniel Williams on an active arrest warrant issued by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

The court document says the detectives made multiple announcements calling for Williams to exit the home. The officers reported hearing muffled voices coming from inside the residence, and after no one answered the door, it was breached and the detectives went inside.
They reported finding three juveniles inside the residence, but Williams was not present.
The criminal complaint indicates the detectives conducted a search and located a white powdery substance and dollar bills on the kitchen table. The powder was consistent with cocaine.
A wider search of the residence, which was authorized based on Williams’ supervised release conditions, led to the discovery of three plastic baggies in a kitchen drawer containing a large amount of a white powdery substance. The detectives also reported finding two digital scales and packaging materials.
The court document states that the three baggies contained more than 35 grams of cocaine and more than 39 grams of fentanyl powder.
Williams is charged with two counts of first-degree drug sales, one count of first-degree drug possession, and one count of second-degree drug possession.
His bail was set at $50,000. Williams is scheduled to return to court next month.

Minnesota Court records show Williams' criminal history includes a felony conviction for DUI involving drug impairment in Mower County that resulted in the 42 month prison sentence.
