Prison For Pizza Cutter Attack on Child at Rochester Daycare
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester daycare worker is headed to prison for slashing a child with a pizza cutter.
An Olmsted County jury found 27-year-old Andrianna Newburn guilty in June. She was convicted of all charges against her, including first-degree assault, child torture, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, terroristic threats, and two misdemeanor assault counts.

According to court documents, Rochester police responded to a report of an assault on the afternoon of June 13, 2024, at the KinderCare Learning Center in southwest Rochester. The documents state that police were told Newburn had gotten into a work-related argument with the victim’s mother when she grabbed a pizza cutter and threatened to cut her coworker.
She was accused of telling the woman, “If I can’t cut you, I’ll cut your kids.” Newburn then allegedly went into the infant room at the daycare facility and swung the pizza cutter at her coworker’s 2-year-old daughter, who was sitting on the floor. The child suffered multiple lacerations in the attack. The criminal complaint says one of the cuts, on the right side of her face, required surgical repair.

She is scheduled to appear in court on that charge on Tuesday.
