Rochester Man Given One Day on Probation For Drug Conviction
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man who was sent to prison for a drug-dealing conviction 18 years ago has avoided a prison sentence for his latest criminal offense.
A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court two years ago says 41-year-old Michael Anthony Ray Brown was arrested on an active federal arrest warrant just before Rochester police and multiple other law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at his northwest Rochester apartment. The court document says investigators seized a total of 162 grams of cocaine that had been separated into six different baggies, along with a digital scale and $3,200 in cash.
The Charges Included First-Degree Drug Sales
Brown was charged with two counts of first-degree drug sales, one count of first-degree drug possession, and second-degree drug possession. Following his arrest, his bail was set at $200,000.
Court records show that Brown recently entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a felony charge of fifth-degree drug possession. In exchange, Olmsted County prosecutors dismissed the more serious charges against him.
No Additional Jail Time
Brown was sentenced to the 288 days he had already served in jail and was placed on probation for one day.
His prior criminal history includes convictions for 3rd-degree drug sales and burglary stemming from his arrest in 2006 that resulted in a 45 month prison term.
