Bob Brown, Rochester Sportswriting Legend, Dies at 84

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A prominent longtime Rochester resident passed away earlier this week.

An obituary published by Macken Funeral Home in Rochester says Bob Brown died Tuesday. He was 84 years old.

Brown became well known throughout the community and southeastern Minnesota during his nearly four-decade career as a sportswriter and editor at the Rochester Post Bulletin. His obituary notes that he covered numerous major sporting events, including the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" Olympic hockey game and multiple NFL Super Bowls.

Bob and Carole Brown's Rochesterfest Legacy

Brown is also well remembered for his involvement in many community events, particularly Rochesterfest. His late wife, Carole, served as the executive director of the annual community festival for more than 20 years.

A funeral service for Brown will be held at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester on Saturday at noon. A visitation will precede the service, beginning at 11 a.m.
