Rochester Teenager Sentenced to Probation in Child Porn Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A 19-year-old Rochester man today was given a stayed prison sentence for child pornography convictions.
Chakong Yathortou, who earlier entered guilty pleas to three counts of possession of child pornography through a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of seven other felony charges, was placed on probation for five years. When he admitted to the charges, Court documents indicate Yathortou also admitted he knew the children depicted in the videos and images were under the age of 13.
The criminal complaint says Rochester police investigators discovered 27 items of child sexual abuse materials on a cell phone and 10 of those files depicted sexual activity involving children as young as infants. The cell phone was seized as part of an investigation that began after Rochester police received a cyber tip involving child pornography being uploaded to Facebook.
The court record says Yathortou admitted the Facebook account listed in the cyber tip was his and also admitted that he was viewing child pornography while he was talking with a police investigator involved in the execution of a search warrant at his apartment in April of last year.
