Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the Rochester woman who was killed in a traffic crash Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Scott Rose says 46-year-old Laura Wittwer was driving a Ford Mustang that crossed over the centerline and collided with a vehicle headed in the opposite direction. The deadly collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Dodge County Road 34 near the intersection with County Road 9 between Kasson and Dodge Center.

Initial Investigation and Collision Details

A news release says first responders determined Wittwer was likely killed on impact and had to be extricated from the wreckage of her vehicle by firefighters. Sheriff Rose says that, at this point, investigators do not know what caused the crash victim to cross over the centerline.

The sheriff says a witness reported seeing the Mustang traveling down the middle of the roadway, causing the witness to swerve to avoid a collision. The vehicle behind the witness was unable to avoid colliding with Wittwer’s car.

The occupants of the 2nd vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries

The news release identified the other driver as Amanda Voca of Dodge Center. She and her two passengers—an adult and a young child—were transported to St. Marys Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
