Weather-Related School Early Releases For May 21, 2024

Due to severe weather expected today in Southeast Minnesota, Northeast Iowa, and Southwest Wisconsin, several schools have announced early releases.

The storm is expected to arrive in the area Tuesday afternoon and evening with the highest risk from 3 PM to 9 PM. Damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail are all possible. Heavy rain is expected to cause flooding in some areas.

Early Release at 1:45 PM for intermediate and high school; Elementary will release at 1:55 PM

- Caledonia Schools
Early Release at 1:15 PM

-Chatfield Public Schools
Early Release at 12:40 PM; Valleyland open, no activities.

-Dover-Eyota Public Schools
Elementary Early Release 2:00 PM; SACC closing at 4:00 PM

- Filmore Central Public Schools
Early Release at 12:00 PM

- Hayfield Community Schools
Early Release at 1:45 PM; no after-school activities

- Howard- Winneshiek Community Schools
Early Release at 1:00 PM

-Lake Mills Community School
Early Release at 2:00 PM

- Lanesboro Public Schools
Early Release at 12:35 PM

- Mabel-Canton Public Schools
Early Release at 1:15 PM

Extended Care Closed; all activities canceled.

- Rochester Public Schools
All after-school practices and games; all activity busses canceled.
The school board meeting is on as scheduled at 5:30 PM at the Edison building

- Riceville Community Schools
Early Release at 1:30; no after-school activities

- Spring Grove Public Schools
Early Release at 1:15 PM; no evening activities

-Stewartville Public Schools
Early Realease at 1:30 PM; after-school activities canceled, childcare closing at 5:00 PM

- Triton Public Schools
Early Release at 1:30 PM
