
Cannon Falls Police Among Agencies to Respond to Reports of Shooting at Southeast Minnesota Bike Trail
Police requested assistance from the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol for the search and to control the area
Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News)- There was a notable law enforcement presence at a bike trail in southeast Minnesota Sunday.

A news release issued by the Cannon Falls Police Department says authorities conducted a multi-agency search after responding to the area shortly before 5:30 p.m.
The police department also issued a post on their Facebook page asking members of the public to avoid the area.

Police Respond to Reports of Shooting, Person Yelling Along Bike Trail in Cannon Falls, MN
Cannon Falls police responded to the report of a person yelling for help and possibly being unresponsive at a location along the Cannon Valley Bike Trail east of Cannon Falls. Officers then received reports of gunshots in the same area.
Police requested assistance from the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol for the search and to control the area.
Authorities deployed the State Patrol helicopter, a drone and K-9 for the search effort. The ground and air search failed to locate any victims, the news release indicates.
Law enforcement interviewed multiple people in the area of the bike trail then conducted a second search focused on information obtained from the interviews.
No victim was found following the second search, the news release says.
Around 8:40 p.m. the Cannon Falls Police Department says the search was complete and no victim was located.
