Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Parts of southeast Minnesota are digging out of a heavy snowfall.

The late Winter storm swept across southeast Minnesota on Saturday, leaving a wide range of snowfall accumulations in its wake.

A storm recap from the National Weather Service describes the storm as a “narrow band of intense snow.” Official tallies indicate the highest pockets of accumulations were reported in Fillmore County

Fillmore County Sees Most Snow in Southeast Minnesota from Saturday Storm

Lanesboro and Preston saw the highest accumulations in southeast Minnesota. Both communities picked up 10 inches of snow Saturday, according to the weather service.

Fillmore County also had the widest range of snow measurements in southeastern Minnesota. Just 1.5 inches was reported in Rushford, which is about 20 miles northeast of Lanesboro and 26 miles northeast of Preston. 

Houston County also saw a wide range of accumulations. The Mississippi River community of Reno picked up 8.8 inches while a half inch was reported 16 miles up river in La Crescent.

Racine had the most snow of communities in Mower County, picking up eight inches, while southwestern Austin saw the low-end snow totals with 3.3 inches. Hayfield got the most snow in Dodge County, picking up eight inches. 

Rochester Sees Variety of Snowfall Totals from Saturday Storm

There was a seven-inch gap between the highest and lowest accumulations in Olmsted County. Eight inches fell in Rock Dell Township in southwestern Olmsted County and seven inches were measured in Stewartville. 

Rochester also had a variety of snow accumulations. The lowest reported total in Olmsted County was 0.9 inches in northern Rochester

2.7 inches fell in southwest Rochester.
