Southeastern Minnesota Town Issues Boil Water Alert
Spring Valley, MN (KROC-AM News) - A boil water advisory has been issued for a community in southeastern Minnesota.
The City of Spring Valley says a water main break Thursday led to a loss of pressure in the city’s water distribution system. That has raised concerns that harmful bacteria may have entered the system.
Disinfection Underway
Spring Valley officials say steps are currently being taken to disinfect the water system. The water is being tested to verify it is safe, and residents will be notified when that is the case. A news release says the problem is expected to be resolved within 48 hours.
Boil Advisory
Until then, Spring Valley residents are being told to bring all water used for drinking, food preparation, making ice, and brushing teeth to a full boil for at least one minute before using it, or to obtain bottled water. After the boil water advisory is lifted, residents are being advised to flush their plumbing systems.
