St. Charles, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol has identified the man and woman from Illinois who were involved in a fatal crash in Winona County Tuesday evening.

First responders were called to the crash site along eastbound I-90 about one mile east from the interchange with Hwy. 74 near St. Charles shortly before 6:30 p.m. The preliminary report indicated a 51-year-old woman riding in the vehicle was killed and the 40-year-old man driving the vehicle was severely hurt.

An updated crash report released Thursday morning identifies the woman killed in the crash as Anastasia Payne. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver, identified Thursday morning as Sean Robert Payne, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with what are being described as life-threatening injuries. The state crash report indicates the Chicago residents were traveling east in an SUV when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times

Both drivers were buckled up and its unknown if alcohol was involved in the deadly crash, according to the report. The Winona County Sheriff's Office, St. Charles Police Department, St. Charles Fire Department, St. Charles Ambulance and Lewiston Ambulance also responded to the fatal crash scene.
