50 Famous Stores That Closed Throughout The Years In Minnesota
One of the best things about being a kid in the 80s was a place called Toys "R" Us. This was THE store for kids and was packed, almost from floor to ceiling, of everything that a kid would love. Sadly, after 70 years of bringing joy and smiles to kids, Toys "R" Us closed in 2018.
In the past year, a bit of good news showed up when news hit that Toys "R" Us was opening a huge store at the Mall of America in Minnesota. It was such a popular opening that there was a massive line waiting to get in on opening day.
Unfortunately, Toys "R" Us wasn't the only store that left a vacant hole after it originally closed. In fact, there are 50 other retail stores that have shuttered for good and many had at least one location in Minnesota.

50 Retail Stores That Closed For Good in Minnesota and Throughout the United States
About 25 years ago, I moved to Minnesota to work for a company called Mervyn's of California. If you never got a chance to experience it before it closed up shop in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, just walk into a Kohl's, it is practically a duplicate. The layout, the signs, the brands, and even the sales. It is so similar that I actually couldn't shop at Kohl's for years because I knew how much everything probably was at cost. (Psst...you are overpaying by A LOT!)
I had a gut feeling that Mervyn's was in its final days. I was contemplating future careers and eventually said my goodbyes and I'm glad that I did. In 2004, Mervyn's was one of the many stores that Minnesota has said goodbye to over the years. It's not the only one though.
Below are about 50 stores that have closed throughout the United States, some that you probably remember shopping at when you were a kid.
