I don't have kids but you know what I know for a fact regardless? Taking the family to an amusement park is EXPENSIVE. It can make for a fun day and some great memories but at what cost? Literally.

Lucky for us, we've actually got a theme park relatively close to us that has been named one of the most affordable theme parks in the entire country. So the next time your kids what to hit the roller coasters and try their hand at the carnival games, suggest Adventureland in Altoona, IA (a northeast suburb of Des Moines, for those who aren't super familiar with Iowa).

Adventureland in Altoona, IA One of the Most Affordable Theme Parks

Home to Go is responsible for putting together this list of the most affordable theme parks in the country. Sadly, no Minnesota theme parks made the list. But like I said, at least we don't have to go very far to find one of the top 10.

Based on their research, Adventureland is the 8th most affordable theme park to visit in the US. The rankings were based on accommodation pricing, ticket prices, and the price to park. For those three items, they estimate it'll cost you $137.82 to go to Adventureland.

Now, that's only including the cost of one ticket. So let's say you've got a family of four going. Tickets on Adventureland's website are $44.99 (before fees and all of that) so that brings the grand total up to $272.79 for a family of four.

So don't get me wrong, it's still expensive, but at least it's one of the cheaper options in the country relatively close to home.
