Minnesota’s Newest Holiday Attraction Launches This Winter
The holidays are all about family traditions, and in Minnesota, that often includes visiting stunning Christmas light displays.
Each year, my family makes the drive to Mankato to see Minnesota's longest drive-thru Christmas light display. It's been a tradition for over ten years now, and we've added other festive stops like Sam's Christmas Village to our holiday calendar.

Introducing E.L.F. – Employers of Olmsted Light Festival
This winter, a brand-new holiday attraction is coming to Southeast Minnesota. E.L.F. (Employers of Olmsted Light Festival) is a drive-thru holiday light show debuting in December at Chester Woods Park.
The event will be open to the public over the first three weekends of December 2025, offering families in the Rochester area a new way to celebrate the season.
Holiday Light Show at Chester Woods Park
The campground loop at Chester Woods will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland, filled with bright lights and creative displays.
Karlin Ziegler, Olmsted County Parks and Trails Director, said: “We’re excited to bring a new holiday tradition to Chester Woods Park that highlights the creativity and generosity of our community.”
Local Businesses Invited to Sponsor and Decorate at Chester Woods
The success of this event will depend on community involvement. Local businesses and organizations can participate by sponsoring a campsite for $250 and decorating it with festive lights and displays.
Visitors will vote for their favorite, and a fan favorite display will be announced at the event's conclusion.
Ziegler added: "This is a wonderful opportunity for local businesses and organizations to come together, spread joy, and be part of a magical experience for families throughout the county.”
