Downtown Rochester Restaurant, Marrow, Suddenly Closes its Doors
We got some really sad news last night. Marrow, a restaurant in downtown Rochester, suddenly announced that they have closed.
There was no notice to those of us that loved the restaurant, there was no hurrah or final party, they're just closed. That's it.
I'm so upset. My husband and I couldn't believe it when we found out last night. That's one of our favorite places! The hospitality was always amazing, the food was incredible, and there was always something new to try with the ever-changing menu.

They shared the news on social media last night saying,
After a great deal of thought and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close Marrow, effective immediately.

Like many independent restaurants, we have felt the realities of changing dining habits, rising costs, and an increasingly difficult operating environment.
That's so tough to hear from a restaurant that, at least from the outside, was doing everything right.
The owners, Jeff and Sarah, are leaving everything in Marrow as it is for someone interested in carrying the place on as their own (not as Marrow).
As we move through this transition, the Marrow space — including the existing restaurant buildout, infrastructure, equipment, and lease opportunity — will be available for someone interested in carrying the space forward as their own.
I'm just so shocked. My husband and I just celebrated his birthday there earlier this month and the place was full. They also just celebrated being open for 3 years. They even survived when they had to close two years ago when a car destroyed part of their building.
Maybe the cost of the food was too much? Maybe something personal happened that made it so they couldn't continue operating their business? I'm not sure. But it's really sad to see them go.
