Popular Tiki Bar Closing For Good Here in Minnesota

It's been a fixture in Minnesota for over two decades, but this popular restaurant and bar will soon close its doors for good.

While Minnesota has its share of warm summer days and balmy nights each year, we've likely never been mistaken for the tropical paradises you'll find in the South Pacific. So perhaps you ventured to this popular tiki bar to get a taste of some Polynesian paradise right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. And while it's still open right now, it won't be for long.

Psycho Suzie's Waterfront Lodge has been located right along the Mississippi River in North Minneapolis for nearly two decades. It's a 'retro tiki bar and pizza paradise overlooking the high seas of the Mississippi River in Nordeast Minneapolis,' as its website says.

Its huge patio (complete with some incredibly scenic views of the river), along with the huge tropical tiki drinks you could sip on there (some of which were delivered to your table while on fire), made it a tremendously popular location both in the summer-- or even on a cold, Minnesota winter night.

But according to a post on Psycho Suzie's Facebook page, the legendary Minnesota tiki bar and restaurant is going to permanently close later this month, as Suzie (the alter-ego of owner Leslie Bock) is going to retire (or 'put on her retirement hat' as the post says.)

The post goes on to say that Pyscho Suzies will officially close for good on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, as Suzie offered up one last farewell:

So come on by one last time and say goodbye to this wood plank carpeting, the tiki mug vending machines, zombie slushies, and fire-lit torches that have watched over us these past 20 years. Let’s raise a glass to us all and this magical oasis we created together. Though the Psycho Suzi's experience is ending and Suzi is saying her final goodbye to Minneapolis, we hope the mending of broken dreams carries on. I humbly pass the torch.

My wife and I have been to Psycho Suzies several times over the years and always had a good time. I'll be sad to see it close for good!
