Rochester’s Winning Snowplow Name Is Finally Here
Minnesota has officially chosen its newest snowplow legends.
After thousands of submissions and weeks of anticipation, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has revealed the eight winning names, including Rochester's, for the 2025–26 Name a Snowplow contest. And honestly, they nailed it.
More than 19,000 Minnesotans voted to decide the final eight names, chosen from a list of 30 finalists packed with snowy puns and Minnesota humor.

Since this contest started six years ago, MnDOT has named 52 snowplows. The lineup already includes standouts like Betty Whiteout and Taylor Drift.
There were some fantastic finalists this time around. Some of my top picks were I Got Friends in Snow Places. I’m still laughing about Six Sleddin’. And, let's be real, Oh, For Sleet’s Sake feels like something we’ve all groaned under our breath at least once in February.
Each winning name represents one MnDOT district, meaning you'll see these names plastered on plows all across the state.
