It feels like Girl Scout cookies just went on sale, but cookie season has nearly reached its half-way point. This weekend, in celebration of the nice weather, Girl Scouts in our area will be hosting 'Lemonades Stands'.

That's not a typo - They'll be selling their cookie called 'Lemonades' that they describe as "savory slices of shortbread with a refreshingly tangy lemon flavored icing." Of course, you'll be able to purchase other cookie flavors too.

On their website, the River Valley Girl Scouts explain that a "Lemonades Stand" is a cookie booth that is "set up on the property where a girl or close family member resides." Watch for flyers around your neighborhood to find out where you snag a box or three of your favorite flavors. You can check the online "Girl Scout cookie booth locator" or download the free "Girl Scout Cookie Locator" app for iPhone and Android to locate cookies near you.

If you're curious, 76 percent of the money raised by girl scouts stays local. The Girl Scouts explain, "every penny after paying the baker—stays with that council and its troops."
