Man and Woman Charged for Rochester Apartment Complex Break-ins
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two Minnesota residents are facing a laundry list of charges for allegedly breaking into multiple buildings in a Rochester apartment complex and stealing coins from washing machines and dryers.
The criminal complaint says surveillance footage shows 30-year-old Stephanie Bellanger and 37-year-old Cody Hendrickson of Richfield breaking into buildings in the Silver Lake Apartment Complex in February of 2021. The complaint states the footage shows Bellanger and Hendrickson used a metal bar to pry open secured doors. The two then broke the coin collectors on the machines and removed the coins inside.
Apartment managers estimated the two inflicted $200 worth of damage on each broken door and caused $100 worth of damage to each laundry machine. The complaint says each machine had $22 in coins.
The complaint details seven incidents in which the two allegedly broke into laundry rooms throughout the apartment complex. Bellanger faces 28 charges related to the alleged break-ins while Hendrickson is facing 21 counts. Some of the charges Bellanger and Hendrickson are facing include burglary, damage to property and theft.
Court records indicate Bellanger is in the Minnesota State Correctional facility in Shakopee where she is serving a 13 month sentence for a drug conviction. Hendrickson made his first appearance in Olmsted County Court on Wednesday.
