Bloomington, MN (KROC AM News) - It was a wild scene on a busy Twin Cities freeway during Thursday’s late afternoon rush hour.

Police officers responded to calls about a man who had a gun in Bloomington.

According to the Bloomington Police Dept, officers arrived around 6:15 to find the man “firing a handgun from the pedestrian bridge over I494.”

The PD says one of its officers fired his gun at the man but apparently missed. No other police rounds were fired.

The PD says the man continued firing his gun for about 10 minutes after climbing outside the safety net covering the bridge. The department says the man then shot himself in the head and fell to the pavement.

As of the last report, no motorists or pedestrians were hurt.

Traffic in both directions was affected for about two hours.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation.

News update: A guilty plea involving a "rolling gunfight" in Rochester.
