37-years ago today the worst nuclear accident in US history occurred.

On this date in 1979, the Three Mile Island meltdown occurred in Pennsylvania. The nuclear power plant was built on a sandbar on the Susquehanna River in 1974. It had only been operational for about a year before the meltdown occurred. The meltdown took a few days to clean up and President Carter toured the facility after the accident on April 1st. You can read more about the disaster here.

Just so you know, the disaster looked nothing like the film clip below. But Three Mile Island was the setting for the climactic battle between Wolverine, Sabertooth and Deadpool in the 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Deadpool swore and killed at the box office last month.

It's funny, because if you watch the movie, you could be all like, "Hey is that how that nuclear disaster happened?"

Yeah, no. Only in super-hero comic book movies.

But it is interesting to see how history gets fictionalized, right?
