St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - COVID-19 testing in Minnesota has ramped up considerably over the last several days.

After reporting a record high of over 32,000 tests completed on Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Health today reported the completion of nearly 29,500 tests. Since Wednesday, the health department has reported the results of almost 86,700 COVID-19 tests.

The tests completed on Friday identified 1434 new COVID-19 infections for a statewide positivity rate of 3.8-percent. State officials also reported there were another 14 deaths attributed to COVID-19 throughout Minnesota

50 of the new COVID-19 cases were in Olmsted County. That's believed to be the highest single-day total for the County since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous high of 47 cases was reported just last week. The daily testing total for the county is not yet available.
