If you haven't been paying attention to what is happening in our world right now, you probably missed the latest in Haiti.  According to CNN, thousands of people have been shoved out of their homes because of gang violence.  Multiple police stations have been burned down and The Dominican Republic has suspended all passenger flights and cargo ships to their neighbor due to the gang activity.

Number of Gangs Currently in the United States

Gangs aren't just something that exists on foreign soil.  In the United States, there are about 33,000 total gangs and according to worldpopulationreview.com, in most areas, these gangs are responsible for about 48% of violent crimes.

Shocking Number of Gangs in Minnesota

When we break it down by state, Minnesota doesn't have the largest presence of gang activity but it does have a very long list of active gangs.  To put it in perspective, Iowa has three, South Dakota has four, and Wisconsin has six.  Supposedly Illinois has four gangs but it is pretty known that there is a high presence of gang activity in that state compared to others in the Midwest.

Not sure what is exactly going on in Minnesota but our number of gangs in the state is not anywhere close to the above states.  Minnesota has fifteen.  Yes, 15.
