Minnesota Nice.  You may be rethinking that statement after you see the number of gangs that are currently being reported in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Remember When Haiti's Capital Was Handed Over to Gangs?

Earlier this year, Haiti was a disaster zone. According to CNN, thousands of people were shoved out of their homes because of gang violence.

Multiple police stations were burned down and The Dominican Republic suspended all passenger flights and cargo ships to their neighbor due to the gang activity.

Number of Gangs Currently in the United States

Gangs aren't just something that exists on foreign soil. In the United States, there are about 33,000 total gangs and according to worldpopulationreview.com, in most areas, these gangs are responsible for about 48% of violent crimes.

Gangs in the U.S. include prison gangs, local street gangs, and national street gangs. There are about 33,000 gangs in the U.S., with over one million members.

Shocking Number of Gangs in Minnesota

When we break it down by state, Minnesota doesn't have the largest presence of gang activity but it does have a very long list of active gangs.

To put it in perspective, Iowa has three, South Dakota has four, and Wisconsin has six.  Supposedly Illinois has four gangs but it is pretty known that there is a high presence of gang activity in that state compared to others in the Midwest.

Not sure what is exactly going on in Minnesota but our number of gangs in the state is not anywhere close to the above states. Minnesota has fifteen. Yes, 15.
