St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Influenza has claimed the life of another child in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health says 10 more flu-related deaths were reported across the state during the week that ended February 14th. One of the deaths reported during the week involved a child, which was the second pediatric flu-related death of the season. Overall, 58 people have died after contracting influenza since the start of the season last fall.

The Health Department is also reporting the number of flu-related hospitalizations this season now exceeds 2300. A preliminary count from the week ending February 14th shows over 300 people were hospitalized due to flu-related complications.

The weekly report on flu activity statewide shows there were 60 new outbreaks reported by schools and 4 outbreaks in nursing homes and other long term care facilities. Both numbers represent modest declines from the previous week.
