Washington, D.C. (KROC-AM News) - The latest estimates from the US Census show Minnesota’s population grew by a little over 37,500 people this year.

The annual headcount puts the number of people living in Minnesota, as of July 1st, at just under 5,520,000. The Census estimate from July 1, 2015 had Minnesota’s population at 5,482,000, which works out to a growth rate of 6-tenths of a percent.

Since the last Census was conducted in 2000, Minnesota’s population has grown by over 216,000 people for a growth rate of 4-percent.

The U.S. population rose 7-tenths of a percent this year to 323.1 million people.
