Rochester, MN )KROC-AM News) - The first significant snowstorm of the season dropped around 4 or more inches of snowfall on the Rochester area, as of late Saturday night, while areas to the west have seen about a half foot of wet snow since the weather system moved into the region Saturday morning.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through noon on Sunday and the National Weather Service says another 3 to 6 inches of snow is possible in southeastern Minnesota before the storm leaves the region. Sleet and freezing rain are also possible, although most of the precipitation overnight is expected to come down as snow.

Highways throughout southeastern Minnesota remain completely snow covered and slippery and any travelers need to use extreme caution.
