ST. CLOUD -- A Black Hawk helicopter that took off from St. Cloud Thursday afternoon crashed in Stearns County near Marty.

According to Minnesota National Guard Sgt. Blair Heusdens, the UH-60 helicopter was conducting a maintenance test flight. It left the Minnesota National Guard base in St. Cloud with three people on board.

Heusdens says the National Guard lost contact with the helicopter around 2:05 p.m., shortly after it took off.

A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and the Minnesota Aviation Rescue Team (MART) are helping with the recovery.

The State Patrol, the MN National Guard and local emergency crews participated in the search.
