Stretch of Hwy. 63 in Mower County Named After Fallen Grand Meadow Police Officer
Hwy. 63 between Racine and Hwy. 16 is now named the Jason B. Meyer Memorial Highway.
Officer Meyer was employed by the Grand Meadow Police Department.
He lost his life in a single-vehicle crash while responding to a call for assistance from a Mower County Sheriff’s deputy on September 6 of 1999.
“The signs will serve as a reminder to all for traffic safety and the sacrifice Office Meyer made that day,” a post on the Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation of Southeast Minnesota Facebook page says.
Members of Meyer’s family and colleagues from around the region were on hand for Monday’s dedication. The brown signs are now in place.
