One Injured In Highway 60 Crash In Elysian Township

On Saturday mid-morning a woman was injured after rear-ending a pick-up truck pulling a small trailer on Highway 60 in Elysian Township. The Elk River woman was taken to Faribault's District One Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to the Minnesota State Patrol incident page, at 9:02 A.M. both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Highway 60 at the time of the crash. A Ford pickup, driven by 76-year-old Stanley Hohenstein of Vernon Center, who was pulling a small enclosed trailer, had slowed down to make a left turn off of Highway 60 when his trailer and vehicle were rear-ended by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, 19-year-old Haley Bance of Elk River, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to District One Hospital in Faribault.

Also responding to the scene of the crash was the Waterville Police Department.

Remember we are less than a week away from the new hands-free law takes effect here in Minnesota. This accident doesn't indicate that the driver was distracted at the time of the crash, but remember that once the law takes effect drivers "cannot hold their phone while operating a motor vehicle which is punishable by a $50 ticket on the first offense and $275 for tickets thereafter."
