Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Plainview-Elgin-Millville easily advanced to the semi final round of the Class AA girls state high school basketball tournament.They enjoyed a 59-38 win over Holy Family Catholic in the quarterfinals of the tourney at Mariucci Arena Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Hayley Dressner led the top-seeded Bulldogs with 12 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line. Senior Chloe Holtz added 11 points, senior Sarah Hart had 10 and junior Emmaline Polson scored 8 points with 13 rebounds.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville’s next game will be Friday evening against either Roseau or Pequot Lakes.

Winona also advanced Wednesday by beating Grand Rapids 76-56 in the Class AAA quartefinals. Senior Hallee Hoeppner paced Winona with 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists while senior Jayne Emerson put up a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards.

The Winhawks semi-final game against Becker is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
