Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is heading to prison for sexually assaulting a woman about a year and a half ago.

37-year-old Marcus Shines has been given a 51-month prison sentence for his conviction on a 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct charge. Shines entered a guilty plea to the charge last October through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of a 3rd-degree count.

Shines was arrested in July 2018 after Rochester police were contacted by a woman in her 20s who reported she was sexually assaulted by Shines while attending a party at a residence in southeast Rochester. The police report stated the victim and Shines knew each other prior to the assault.
