City officials are also planning four open houses concerning the future municipal golf in Rochester. There are four events planned, one for each city-operated golf course.

  •  September 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Northern Hills Golf Course (4721 W Circle Drive)
  •   September 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Eastwood Golf Course (3505 Eastwood Road SE)
  •   September 23 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Soldiers Field Memorial Golf Course (244 Soldiers Field Drive SE)
  •  September 28 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hadley Creek Golf Course (2390 Hadley Hills Drive NE)

The city is also set to conduct a survey that’s expected to include the feedback of 500 Rochester residents. Officials anticipate the survey will be conducted in September and October.

The meetings are scheduled after a city council meeting set for Monday in which city leaders are expected to review a proposed long-term master plan that would add pickleball courts, an indoor curling facility, and a new Riverfront Plaza and Terrace along the Zumbro River by reducing the Soldiers Field Golf Course from 18 holes to 9.

Wow! Check out how Rochester has changed throughout the years in these Google photos.

As we are soaring down Hwy 52, it is hard to imagine what life was like in our town before the Target store was built where it is today. Or the house that you live in now, at one point in town, that wasn't there. In fact, Rochester has grown so fast throughout the years, most of our houses weren't even around 50 years ago! Don't believe me? Look through these photos to get a glimpse of what Rochester was like years ago.
