Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Despite the massive construction process surrounding the expansion and renovation of the Mayo Civic Center in downtown Rochester, a report presented to the Rochester City Council on Monday shows the facility’s finances were stable last year.

The Mayo Civic Center’s 2016 Annual Report indicates its net revenues rose $186,000 and there was a 32 percent-increase in new bookings. It estimated the Civic Center’s overall economic impact on the community at $38 million last year, with events held at the facility attracting customers for local restaurants, bars, hotels and retailers.

The annual report also notes that client surveys from last year showed an overall customer satisfaction reading of almost 92-percent at a time when clients were being asked to deal with the challenges created by the massive construction project.

The report predicts positive developments this year as more and more groups take advantage of the revamped Civic Center’s 200,000 square feet of flexible and modern venues.
