Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The latest Census population estimates show the Rochester area’s population continued its recent slow, but steady upward trajectory last year.

A report released Thursday estimates the population of Olmsted County, as of last July, was a little below 151,500 people. That’s up about by 1250 people, or less than one percent when compared to the July 2014 estimate.

Since the last census was conducted in 2010, Olmsted County’s population has grown by about 6,200 people, or 4.2-percent.

The fastest growing counties in Minnesota are in the Twin Cities, where the Associated Press reports the population of the 7 county metro areas has exceeded 3-million people for the first time.
