Rochester City Council Holds Hearing on 2017 Tax Levy
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -The Rochester City Council will hold a public hearing Monday evening on its proposed 2017 budget and property tax levy.
The council has set the preliminary levy at $62-million.
That’s down $1.5-million from the maximum that was set in September. That’s up about $5-million from the 2016 levy.
The city council will formally adopt the budget and levy later this month.
Property tax notices were recently mailed to Olmsted County residents and many are reporting double digit percentage increases in their taxes. Some of that is being blamed on rising property values.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
