Rochester, MN ( KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council has taken an official position on a possible “shelter in place” decision.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is still holding off on issuing such an order in another effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus/COVID-19.

But if he does make the call, he has the official backing of the Rochester City Council:

Shelter In Place Call to Governor Walz: The City Council respectfully requested Governor Walz to immediately issue an executive order placing further restrictions to combat COVID-19, including:

· All persons living in Minnesota stay in their place of residence subject to exceptions.

· Prohibit all public and private gatherings outside of a household or living unit.

· Closing all non-essential businesses.

The Council took the action during a short meeting Monday afternoon.
