Rochester Included in Winter Weather Advisory on Tuesday

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The expected track of a developing storm system has shifted a bit to the south and the Rochester area has been included in a Winter weather advisory that will be in effect from 10 AM until 10 PM on Tuesday.

Olmsted, Dodge, Wabasha, and Goodhue Counties are on the southern edge of an advisory area that extends into west-central and northeastern Minnesota as well as a large part of northern Wisconsin. The current forecast calls for snow showers to develop in the Rochester area in the late morning and continue through the evening with the possibility of 1 to 4 inches of accumulation. In the Twin Cities, the forecast is currently calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow.

While the snow is expected to initially accumulate only on grassy areas, by the late afternoon and evening, forecasters say roadways could become slick as the snow also starts to stick on those surfaces.

The last time Rochester experienced an accumulating snowfall was on Easter Sunday, April 12th, when 7.5 inches was recorded at the Rochester Airport.
